Dani--My Featured Photographer

Mike and Jennifer Zempel.

My featured photographers for Thursday are Mike and Jennifer Zempel. They are a married couple that live in Pine Island. They do photography such as weddings, senior portraits, children, and family pictures. Together they own their own studio, which is in their garage! Zempel Photography also did my senior pictures, and I couldn't be happier with them! They are great people that truly love what they are doing. In their studio they have many different props and backgrounds that you can use for your photos, along with many beautiful places to go outside. The only sample of work I could get was my senior picture (above) because they don't allow any of the pictures on their website to be copied. But, please go check out their website! They do amazing work. If I could describe their photography it would be unique and eclectic. I know most photographers try to put their own unique spin on everything, but Mike and Jennifer really capture your whole personality and who you really are in every picture.

Our goal as your artist...
"Our goal as your artist is to produce images that you may proudly display as personal artwork in your home for many years. True artwork should have the ability to be enjoyed from a distance afar off and not solely through a handheld replica." - Mike & Jennifer Zempel

My very first 'photo walk'

Today, on this beautiful Sunday, I took my very first photo walk. I decided to take my old, yet trusty Casio digital camera outside and explore. I walked outside of my house and started to worry. I had no idea what I was doing, where to start, or if I was ever going to be able to find the 'perfect' spot to take a picture. But, even being an amateur, I quickly learned that photography isn't about finding the 'perfect' spot to snap a picture or waiting for the right moment to come around.

As I kept walking around outside, I really realized how beautiful it was. I started noticing that the small objects in nature can really make a picture beautiful. And, I started snapping away. I know my pictures aren't anywhere near being professional quality, but I realized today that even learning how to frame and spot different objects in the background of your picture (from the rules of composition) can make a huge difference. After taking those things into consideration, a simple stop sign can make a beautiful shot.

I really enjoyed this first photo walk and I look forward to doing more! After getting outside with just myself and my camera, I know there is so much more to work with than I ever really thought. I think this first time around I realized that I have a lot more to learn, but after time goes on, I will be able to take some beautiful pictures and learn all the different aspects of photography.
